Some points on how this policy should progress are:
- Getting investments: I feel that this is the smallest issue. Modi with his charisma had already got investments from various countries. He is also an expert in getting investments from private partners. So getting MOUs will not be the biggest challenge
- Conversion from MOU to execution: this has always been the biggest problem for India. We have got investments but these have stayed on paper or got stuck due to the red tape. Environmental clearances , bureaucratic roadblocks, protests have always stalled projects in India. These challenges have to be solved. SEZs are probably a good solution.
- Indignation: this is a long term goal which needs to be done. We cannot be content with having only foreign manufacturers. Indian companies must also step up and start manufacturing on a global scale. This is the ultimate goal of the make in India.
- Skill development: to ensure that this plan succeeds, we must ensure that we have skilled workers and ready employment for these manufacturing plant. For this we need to train electricians, plumbers, welders and fitters. This is an areas which needs to be tackled quickly.
